The treatment journey
All-on-X is a staged process rather than a single visit:
- Assessment and planning. A 3D scan maps your bone and nerves so the implants can be positioned precisely. This is also where suitability for same-day teeth is confirmed.
- Implant placement. The implants are placed in one procedure. In many cases, a fixed temporary bridge is fitted on the same day, so you leave with teeth.
- Healing and integration. Over the following months, the implants fuse with the bone. You wear the temporary bridge during this time.
- The final bridge. Once the implants are solidly integrated, your custom-made definitive bridge is fitted — the version built to last.
The placement is done under local anaesthetic, with sedation available if you'd prefer, so comfort on the day is well looked after. Timelines vary from person to person depending on healing and whether any grafting is needed, and your dentist will map out a realistic schedule at the planning stage.
Living with All-on-X
Day to day, an All-on-X bridge feels much like having your own teeth back — you eat, speak and smile without thinking about it. Most people find that foods a loose denture ruled out, like steak, crusty bread and apples, come back onto the menu. Cleaning is a little different from natural teeth: because the bridge is fixed, you clean beneath and around it using floss threaders, interdental brushes or a water flosser, which your dentist or hygienist will show you.
